I had purchased a 99 Honda Accord years ago, knowing one day I would need to rebuild the transmission. I drove my vehicle till it could hardly drive any longer.
I brought my car to Mark (Owner) in desperate need for it to be fixed. His honest and educational ways with cars immediately swept all my fears aside. He explained everything to me!
Prior to work, he would give me a call and go over every detail. Mark was incredibly informative, along with his honest and respectful employees.
Today, my car runs fantastic! No more check engine lights! No more ticking! No more dying at red lights! I feel as though I’m in a brand new vehicle.
I highly recommend this company, if you have any fear or doubt of being ripped off, look no more! Because he is one of the ONLY honest mechanics I have come across.
I give you my word, these individuals are here to do their job, which is fix your car at a reasonable price. Thank you Mark and all of his staff- Alicia B
I just wanted to take a moment to thank Mark and his staff at General Transmission for their help today. I spoke with Mark on the phone about my clutch possibly needing replacement. He told me to bring my truck down and he’d take it for a drive.
When I arrived he took my key and I expected to wait when he took it for a drive. He asked if I’d like to come along which I thought was very commendable as I could likely be spending quite a bit of money for the transmission work. Mark took the time to talk to me about my truck and my personal driving habits and gave me tips to prolong the life of the clutch.
I couldn’t believe it when he said “We can just adjust it and get you more life out of it before replacement is needed.” He spent a few minutes adjusting it and asked me to test it to make sure I was happy with it, which I was.
He gave me my keys and I asked how much I owed him he just kind of laughed and said “You don’t owe me anything!” I was shocked he took the time necessary to help me out, was professional, courteous and honest in an age where customer service has been forgotten.
He told me I could bring the crew a box of doughnuts sometime and that’d be okay. Well you guys definitely won a customer today and the box of doughnuts will be there on Monday!
Thanks guys!- Michael F. – Auburn
This shop came highly recommended and has not disappointed.
General Transmission has been servicing our vehicles for over a decade.
Very knowledgeable and fair. I travel a distance for their services because I know what to expect.
It’s not about how much they can make off me, it’s about doing what needs to be done to keep me safe and on the road.- march13 – posted on Kudzu
Another company tried to charge $800 to do the diagnosis. You charged about $400 for the service.
Thanks for having integrity.- William F. – DuPont
If you guys keep up the great job. I am sure to be back.
Great service, fast and it runs great.- Jess V. – Auburn
Even those of us who’ve done many motor rebuilds and are otherwise mechanically adept tend to be scared of automatic transmissions.
Being at the mercy of ANY professional service-person is both humbling and intimidating. Mark has a gift of calming and informing customers that is reassuring and inspired confidence in me that I’d chosen the right shop to service my tired transmission.
My thanks to the entire crew at General.- Patrick M. – Puyallup
I had a problem with my only mode of transportation.
They gave me a loaner car to use, repaired my car in 24 hours and delivered it to my home for less than half of the original estimate.- Sharon M. – Covington
My experience with General Transmission was a good one and I did not experience any any problems at all.
They did what the said they would and even changed my spark plugs while my transmission was being rebuilt.
They provided me with a car so that I could still get to work while my car was being serviced. I would recommend General Transmission to everyone.- Jean O. – Everett
What a great experience to deal with Mark and his company!! My truck operates so much better, and I did not even know there was a problem till the transmission had completely gone out. Mark told me it had been slipping for quite a while and I had no idea.
I just towed my 10,000 lb. 27 foot boat to and from Anacortes and it has never pulled better! Gas mileage increased 20% due to the new transmission holding the gear and not downshifting and increasing RPM’s.
Mark even drove to another repair facility and picked up the vehicle, with no charge. I can not express how happy I am with General Transmission. I say this after 20 years working at a local Ford dealership, so I do have knowledge of what it takes to run a repair shop.
CALL THEM FIRST. Thanks again!- John O. – Federal Way
In case any of you are in need of transmission work, I just had the best experience with General Transmission in
It’s a no frills, no latte’s kind of place, but the service was great.
They kept me informed every step of the way from diagnosis, ordering of parts, repair and testing, plus when they heard I had to take it down to the dealership to get the windshield wipers done after they were through, they said we will drive it down there for you so you don’t have to make an extra trip.
My Mini is now back on the road running smoothly plus it was 1/2 of the cost that I could find anyone else to do it for.
Way to go General Transmission, I’m a fan!- Stacy R. – Silverdale
..and for the record. My Jeep needed major surgery for a transmission that had a part come loose and trash the innards.
Mark at General Transmission in Kent was GREAT to work with. He got me in to show me what happened, why it cost $3000 to fix; and there is no doubt that is a fair price in mind.
I’m taking the Jeep back to him in a couple weeks for some more refurbishment.- Mark R. – Tacoma
I’ve always had great experiences working with General Transmission.
I send them wholesale work all the time. They do what they say & they stand behind their work.
And if we ever have any problems, they get on it right away & make it right.
Always a great transaction.- Buddy @ Car Club – Burien
I’ve used this shop several times over the years and the owner/ manager, Mark, is a stand up guy who has always been helpful and couldn’t be more knowledgeable.
He doesn’t talk down to you and his prices are fair.- Kim T. – Seattle
Everything was very professional. I had no problems at all with the car.
I was treated quickly & very courteously.
I’d like to add that I just felt that they were fair & honest.- Robyn C. – Kent
I took my truck to them a couple years ago. Never had a problem with it after that so I decided to take them my town car.
Again, everyone was very professional. That’s why I went back.
Besides that, they’re just plain nice people – they treat everybody great.
Everybody who works there, in the office or in on the lifts, they’re all top notch.- Wood P. – West Seattle
My cute little Honda Civic had just stopped one day. Stuck in downtown Seattle with a meter ticking away, I ran to a phone booth and started to call repair places.
General Transmission was one of the first I tried…and I just happened to get Mark, the owner. To be honest, he said, without knowing what the problem was I should just bring it in & have it diagnosed. I’d only pay for what they repaired, which would probably be alot less than a complete rebuild.
I called a couple of other places, but didn’t get a good feeling from them, and with the free tow…well…I decided to trust Mark.
That was two years ago. Haven’t had a problem since then.- Ken W. – Wallingford
A couple months ago I called your establishment, seeking some advice about my 1993 Buick Park Avenue. The car is a creampuff, one-owner car that only has about 110 thousand miles on it. About a year ago, the vehicle began to not go immediately into gear when parked overnight. Eventually, it was taking maybe three minutes to engage! ..Since I live about 50 miles from you, I was hoping for some sort of good advice to cure this problem…and you really helped me out! I followed your advice, which was to completely drain the tranny fluid, replace the filter, and refill with fresh fluid…and also, to include a quart of some additive called Red Lubeguard. Within a hundred miles or so, the problem faded away completely! Thank you so much for great advice…a more local shop nearby my place insisted that the ..tranny probably needed overhauling. I’m recommending your place to all of my friends from now on!- Jack B., Everett, Washington
